Labour 2030 returns for its 3rd edition on September 11–12 of 2025, at the iconic Alfândega do Porto. This international and forward-thinking congress brings together experts in Law, Economics, Technology, Human Resources, and Management to explore the major challenges and opportunities shaping the future of work.

Organized by the Law Academy, the event focuses on emerging topics such as artificial intelligence, sustainability, new forms of work and mental health, fostering a multidisciplinary space for open debate and the exchange of ideas.

Works can be presented through traditional seminars (20 minutes for each speaker) or poster presentations.

The best papers will be published by Editora Almedina in a book dedicated to the Congress. They will also be published in e-book format, which is expected to become a new academic trend for the future of work.

Programme

The Labour 2030 Programme includes a series of parallel sessions, with simultaneous translation available.

This edition focuses on change. Labour 2030 aims to accelerate real transformations in the world of work — towards a fairer, more resilient future that is truly people-centred.

ADRIÁN TODOLÍ SIGNES
Adrián Todolí Signes is a Professor of Labour and Social Security Law at the Universitat de València, Spain. He is also a member of the National Commission of Productivity of the Ministry of Economy of Spain.

ALEXANDRE AGRA BELMONTE
Alexandre Agra Belmonte has been a judge at the Brazilian Supreme Labour Court since 2012.

ANTONIO ALOISI
Antonio Aloisi is an associate professor of European and comparative labour law at IE University Law School in Madrid, where he co-leads the “Lawtomation” Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence.

CATHERINE BARNARD
Catherine Barnard is Professor of EU law and labour law and senior tutor and fellow of Trinity College, University of Cambridge.

DENIS PENNEL
Denis Pennel is a past Executive Director of World Employment Confederation and Author on the Future of Work.

JEREMIAS ADAMS-PRASSL
Jeremias Adams-Prassl is Professor of Law & Associate Dean (Research) at Oxford University. His research focuses on technology, including artificial intelligence systems, innovation policy, and the future of work in the European Union.

JÚLIO GOMES
Júlio Gomes is currently Counsellor Judge of the Supreme Court of Justice (Portugal). He is also invited Professor at the Portuguese Catholic University (Porto).

MARIA EMILIA CASAS BAAMONDE
Maria Emilia Casas Baamonde is Elective Councilor of the Spanish Council of State since 2018. She is also former President of the Spanish Constitutional Court.

MATTHEW FINKIN
Matthew Finkin is one of the leading labour law scholars in the United States. He is a Law Professor at the University of Illinois (U.S.A.) specializing in U.S. and comparative labour law.

NUNO GAROUPA
Nuno Garoupa is a Law professor at George Mason University in the United States and holds the Chair in Research Innovation at Católica Global Law School. He is also the President of the European Association of Law & Economics.
