Lourdes Mella Méndez is a Professor (Acreditado) of Labour Law and Social Security at the Faculty of Law, University of Santiago de Compostela (Galicia, Spain). She was the Director of the Department of Commercial and Labour Law in the Faculty of Law.
She is the sole author of a large number of books, including ‘The formalization of disciplinary dismissal’ (Granada, 1999), ‘Company Succession and the Applicable Collective Agreement (Granada, 2000), ‘The Termination of the Employment Relationship due to the Worker´s Retirement’ (Valladolid, 2002), ‘The Activity Commitments of the Unemployed Worker’ (Madrid, 2005), ‘The counterclaim in the Labour process’ (Madrid, 2007), ‘The preliminary work (Madrid, 2010).
She has also directed and co-authored the “Case Studies of Social Security” (A Coruña, 2010), “Social Security Practice” (Madrid, 2011), “Gender violence and Labor Law” (Madrid, 2012), “Work-Life Balance and the Economic Crisis. She has written than one hundred articles and book chapters. From 1997 to 2012, she spent some time abroad as a professional working at prestigious universities and gave lecturers and conferences in many universities and international conferences (v. gr., Sidney, Amsterdam, Bergamo, Cagliari, Porto, Bordeaux, Dublin-Eurofound). She is running projects of national and regional research and is the recipient of many national awards for Legal Research. She is also the director of specialization courses, masters and national and international conferences.
She is the General Coordinator of an International Network (CIELO Laboral: www.cielolaboral.com) which is made up with experts from more than 20 countries, from Europe and Latin America.
